Build a Business You Want to Be In.
Month-to-month strategic guidance and thought partnership to help you build a strong, sustainable business that honours who you are and how you work best.
Clients call me their “business strategist meets business therapist”. I offer advice tailored to you and your business, alongside a calm, grounded presence to make decisions in.
A dedicated thought-partner for decisions big and small.
We know how important it is to carve out strategic time to work on not just in the business, but this can be hard to do on our own.
If you’re tired of making every decision by yourself, want someone other than family and peers to talk things out with, or wish you didn’t have to lead every strategic conversation in your business on your own—personalized advising might be for you.
When you’ve been the only one looking at your business head-on for years, it’s easy to lose the forest for the trees.
Regular calls offer space to process, untangle your thoughts, and make smart decisions on behalf of you and your business.
WHAT MY CLIENTS ARE SAYING
“What’s really special about Kate is that she is interested in understanding the DNA of your company and you.”
“I’ve hired a lot of consultants and I’m very skeptical of them. I generally find then superficial—great sales people but superficial in actual value. What’s really special about Kate is that she is really interested in understanding the DNA of your company and you, and so when she’s giving me trusted advice it’s coming from a depth of knowledge and insight. Now I find she’s an invaluable part of my advisory team.”
— Kristen Ma (she/her), CEO & Co-Founder Pure + Simple + Founder Holistic Vanity + Naturopathic Doctor
Who this is for:
You’re an established business owner who’s at least a few years in (possibly decades). You’ve validated your idea—whether that’s a service or product—and you have something that “works”. Now, you’re figuring out where to go next.
How much more do you want to grow, and in what direction?
What kind of business, and customers, do you want to take responsibility for?
How does the business you have fit the life you want?
Perhaps most importantly, you want to ensure you’ve created a ‘job’ for yourself that serves you as best as it possibly can.
You also:
Value perspective, and want a second opinion as well as someone to point out things you haven’t considered
Welcome the chance for regular check-ins—you want to stay focused and be proud of your choices
Possibly need help with pacing and prioritization—you can overdo it, and want to avoid unnecessary burnout
How it works:
All new clients begin with a Foundational Month or Half-Day. After that, we work together on a month-to-month basis.
All engagements include meaningful call notes, email access/feedback between calls, and a private working folder with reflection resources.
Foundational Month or Half-Day
An investment of $1500 - $2000 CAD or ~$1100 - $1400 USD
We begin by reviewing your business and setting high-level goals for your business and our work together.
We’ll dive deep on what’s working and what’s not, getting a solid understanding of where things are and what matters to you before making any changes or big directional decisions.
Ongoing Month-to-Month Calls
After that foundational month together, you'll choose if you'd like to move forward with one or two calls a month.
One 60-minute call a month is $500 CAD / ~$350 USD
Two 60-minute calls a month is $1000 CAD / ~$700 USD
What you can expect:
Clear direction for your business. What are you building towards, and why? What’s worth doing to get there? We’ll finally answer those swirling questions—should I hire, do I need a newsletter, do I keep doing the podcast?
Someone who cares about you and your work in the world. Being “thoughtful” and a “great listener” is the most frequent feedback I get in my professional and personal life. I am here for you, and it’s a joy to help you experience your definition of success
Marketing and business practices that don’t require you to become a different version of yourself. I care deeply about finding the overlap of what serves your capacity and sensibilities, your values, your customers, and your goals—that’s how we build something you want to be in long-term
A go-to second opinion, and the relief of knowing you’re not alone anymore. Editing slide decks, preparing for speaking engagements, drafting difficult emails, reviewing your website… I help you get it done with more ease and less rumination.
Consistent small refinements, rather than overwhelming overhauls. By working together long-term, we proactively spot problems so you’re no longer waiting until the top or the bottom of the rollercoaster to ask for help. I’m here to help you navigate each season of growth wisely and well
I wrote an entire article on the value of ongoing support, based on what I’ve seen with my clients over the years (many of whom I’ve spent more than three years with!). It’s a great read to get a fuller sense of my approach before reaching out.
WHAT MY CLIENTS ARE SAYING
“You keep me from ruminating and help me organize my thoughts.”
“Being in Kate’s presence allows me to really connect with myself to understand where I am with my business and what is standing in my way.
During our sessions, her thoughtful questions and active listening help me to sort out my thoughts. Her approach to marketing is refreshing because she never makes me feel like I need to do certain things to fit into a mould. Instead, we create the mould that is unique to me and my business and from there, I feel empowered and encouraged to market myself in a way that feels authentic and achievable.
Thank you, Kate!”

FAQs
-
I work with traditional and hybrid business owners across industries who focus on high-quality work and sustainable growth. My clients include:
Regulated professionals such as financial planners, accountants, naturopaths, and social workers
Fractional executives such as CFOs
Craft, design, and build professionals
Product manufacturers that sell online and in person
Organizational consultants developing their own IP
While many deliver products or services online, they’re primarily focused on revenue generation and providing a high-quality product/service rather than building a large audience.
I tend to work with people with complex lives and businesses (sometimes multiple businesses!). My clients are smart, curious, creative, committed, and often multi-passionate. They have a strong sense of responsibility to their people—family, clients, employees, and community. They care deeply about doing good work and want to benefit from the freedoms and flexibility that entrepreneurship affords them.

Month-to-Month Ongoing ($500–1000 CAD per month or ~$350 - $700 USD)

One 60-minute call a month is $500 CAD / ~$350 USD
Two 60-minute calls a month is $1000 CAD / ~$700 USD
The reason to wait to choose is that once we meet a few times and you get a sense of the rhythm that fits you best, you'll be able to decide what's right for you.
I don't keep anyone in long-term contracts, yet I'm proud that over 70% of my clients choose to work with me for over two years. We both win when you win, and I'm dedicated to your professional progress.
-
My approach is truly collaborative—I'm neither a traditional coach (who primarily helps you surface your own answers) nor a traditional consultant (who tells you exactly what to do and often implements it for you).
Here's what our work together looks like:
You'll have space to think clearly through dedicated time, insightful questions, and active listening. And I'll tell you what I think—offering suggestions and pointing out paths forward based on my expertise and what I've learned about you and your business.
We end every call with practical next steps. No matter how complex the problem, there's always enough information to get to the next step. We work with what you have, not against it.
If anything feels out of my scope, I'll tell you—I won't pretend to have answers I don't. I’ll respect your lived experience and knowledge, and I’ll be generous about sharing mine through thoughtful, actionable advice.
-
Our regular calls together create the time and space to work on, not in the business.
You may want to name clear goals and appreciate support in defining small steps and having accountability on the way to achieving these goals, or you may simply know ongoing advising/coaching is important for the level you're at and the growth you're trying to achieve.
It's different for everyone. What all my clients appreciate is having someone who understands how they work, how their business works, and what matters to them, so as they are in the week-to-week or month-to-month of running their business, they have someone to constantly check in with and get a second opinion from. Someone who can help them vet advice and ideas, reflect on challenges and wins, and who they trust will help them continue refining their business based on what's actually right for them.
Together, we'll work out what's right for you, and what will make the difference in your business.

I don’t have expertise in the following areas, although I can help you make high-level decisions about whether you should hire help in these areas and what questions you could ask to know if you’re ready to grow your business in that way.
Operations management, including setting up the planning systems that tell you what to do, when
Corporate finance and accounting
Tech and digital systems
Tactical-level digital marketing, including SEO, social media, affiliate marketing, and email marketing
PR and media
Deep work on self-belief, confidence, and perfectionism. While these topics surface in our work, meaningful change in these areas will be best facilitated by a trained/certified coach or therapist
I will always share my limits. I will research, bring in experts, or refer out when possible by drawing on my network of specialists to help you find the person who can help with anything I can’t.
-
I don’t work with:
Startups aiming for a short-term exit through fundraising and acquisition. My skills best serve businesses operating with a long-term horizon. Those who ask: how can I be in this for decades, not years?
Online businesses where social media is the main marketing channel. I find too much is out of your control when you rely mainly on an algorithm to connect with customers. I'm focused on helping you explore steady, sustainable growth on your own terms so you can build something that lasts.
Very early-stage business owners—those still in the ideation phase or in their first 1-2 years—who aren't yet profitable and haven’t figured out the core product/service they enjoy. I work best with businesses that have some operating history and momentum, and who aren’t in a cash crunch. The exception is if you're a previous entrepreneur and this isn't your first business—you have a well of experience and self-understanding to draw on
Overall, my skills and sensibilities best serve those who are driven yet patient, and keen to build something sustainable over time.
-
My clients typically come to me when they're a few years into their business and have some traction—solo service providers making around $100K in revenue, or teams and product-based businesses making $250K+.
Some signs you’d benefit from working together:
You want focused, individualized support as you navigate a new season of work. You’re refining what you have, starting something new, or entering a new level of taking yourself and your work “seriously”.
You want to make meaningful progress on your business this year, but you're unsure what to prioritize or how to bring it about
You want someone you can talk to about growing your business who’s not your partner, spouse, or therapist. They’re fantastic support, but sometimes their advice can confuse you or lead you astray (or you don’t want to overload them). You suspect a relationship dedicated to supporting your business health would be useful
You want to grow your business in ways that feel authentic and effective, not just what you 'should' be doing
You want to lead your own growth—actively shaping your business rather than feeling like it's happening to you
And you:
Want my second opinion
Want to meet regularly
Would welcome someone to help you make decisions, who won’t just “yes man” you, but who will both give you space to think and offer solutions (a blend of coaching and advising).
If this sounds like you, the next step is to book a free, no-obligation consultation so that we can get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit to work together.
