Walking path in a forest of tall trees

Ongoing Advising

I provide 1:1 strategic guidance and thought partnership to help you build a strong, sustainable business that honours who you are and how you work best.

Clients call me the “antidote to shiny object syndrome”. Instead of chasing trends, we focus on what’s worth doing to grow and refine the business you truly want to run.

Together, we’ll design a right-sized business and grow it with right-fit marketing.

My Approach

My advising approach is systems-based, compassionate, and collaborative. It offers a unique blend of:

  1. Strategic guidance. I provide direction for your marketing practices, business model design, and customer processes. We focus on refining effective, simple systems that honour your big-picture goals, values, and vision.

  2. Space for your individuality. Your humanity is not separate from your business. There's lots of space for you here. I won't assume how you and your business work—I'll let you tell me who you are. Together, we're growing a business that honors your life and individuality, rather than occurs at the expense of it.

  3. Hands-on problem solving. “How should I handle this?” “What am I missing?” “What should I do next?”. Bring whatever problem, project, or idea needs a fresh perspective. Together, we’ll navigate tricky interpersonal situations, prepare for upcoming opportunities, or refine your messaging. This could look like drafting difficult client emails, editing pitch decks, preparing for events, or reviewing your website. You’re not alone anymore.

Why clients work with me.

You need to improve your marketing strategy. You’re not getting enough new business or the right kind of business.

You need more sustainable ways of working. You’re overwhelmed by day-to-day operations, struggling to determine what’s worth saying yes or no to, and are considering new business model decisions to better align with your current capacity.

You want a dedicated thought partner. You're craving fresh perspective and seeking support and accountability as you navigate a new season of growth. You're tired of making decisions in isolation or relying solely on family, friends, or peers who may not understand the nuances of your business.

Expected Outcomes

Outcomes are unique to your goals, business, mental/energetic/financial bandwidth, and personality. The most frequent changes I see over time are:

  • You develop clear direction for how you want your business to grow, what deserves your attention, and why these choices matter to you. This eliminates marketing busywork and reduces money wasted on unaligned experiments.

You are “taking your business seriously” on your own terms.

As a result, you have more confidence in your path and your unique approach to business.

  • You have someone to regularly check in with about all the things you'd typically avoid or overthink—client interactions, employee situations, marketing decisions, and more.

I am with you in the tension.

By proactively processing challenges as they arise, you free up mental energy to make progress on what truly matters to you (and actually enjoy your life outside of work!).

  • This often translates to higher quality inquiries, improved sales, better client retention, and greater confidence in your business growth. Getting new business no longer feels like a happy accident but rather a predictable outcome of your intentional efforts.

Our goal is to focus on flexible, repeatable, reliable practices that don’t depend on any single channel or tactic (i.e. social media or ads).

Your business operates on processes that can evolve with you as you grow and as market conditions change.

  • You’re proud of your business and how you show up to it. Your approach to growth becomes more proactive and less reactive, giving you control where it counts and creating genuine stability. You’re able to take vacations without worrying about “starting from scratch” when you return.

Most importantly, you can imagine yourself in this business long-term.

We’ll clarify what outcomes are meaningful to you during our free discovery call. If I don’t believe I’m best suited to help you achieve them, I’ll do my best to recommend you to another professional who can.

FAQs

  • I work with a fairly balanced mix of service-based businesses, product-based businesses, remote businesses, and brick-and-mortar. My clients are in all sorts of industries, the most common being finance (financial planners, accountants), health and healing (naturopaths, therapists), organizational consulting, and craft/art/design.

I work with people who are just starting out as well as those who are decades into entrepreneurship. I work with solo founders and practitioners, small groups of co-founders, and couples who are co-founders. I have clients in their 20s and clients in their 60s.

I tend to work with people with complex lives and businesses (sometimes multiple businesses!). My clients are smart, curious, creative, committed, and often multi-passionate. They have a strong sense of responsibility to their people (family, clients, employees, community, etc) and care about doing good work. They want to benefit from the freedoms and flexibility that entrepreneurship affords them.

  • I primarily work with clients on a month-to-month basis. All engagements include meaningful call notes, email access/feedback between calls, and a private working folder with reflection resources (some clients like to do a monthly review in here so they can see their own progress & learnings!).

After your free discovery call I’ll offer options that best suit you and your goals.

    • One, 75-minute call a month starts at $400 CAD

    • Two, 60-minute calls a month starts at $600 CAD

    • Two, 2-hour calls a month starts at $1200 CAD (often best for small teams who want make a lot of progress in a short amount of time or those who value lots of working time together)

Call length and frequency vary based your preference, desired areas of growth, and if it’s just you or multiple co-founders.

Occasionally, when it’s a fit for both of us, I'll suggest a half-day together (starting at $750 CAD) or a two-month intensive (starting at $1800 CAD).

  • A minimum of four months.

4-6 months is a good amount of time if your goal is to develop an authentic, effective marketing plan OR to refine your customer processes (to increase inquiries, new business, and retention).

Many of my clients (over half) choose to continue working together long-term (1-2+ years) so they have consistent partnership and can continue refining their business as they grow.

  • My approach is unique in that I’m not a traditional coach (someone who primarily helps you surface your own answers) and I’m not a traditional consultant (someone who comes in and tells you exactly what they’d do to grow your business, and perhaps even helps you implement those findings).

Our work together is truly collaborative. There will be lots of space for you to hear yourself think clearly (that’s the power of dedicated space + insightful questions + active listening), and I will tell you what I think. I will offer suggestions. I will point out the paths forward I see (based on my experience + what I’ve learned about you & your business). I tell you what I think is missing, or worth considering.

We will end every call with practical next steps. No matter how complex the problem, I truly believe there’s always just enough information available to us to get to the next step. We work with what have, not against it.

It anything ever feels out of my scope or depth, I’ll tell you. I won’t pretend to have answers that I don’t.

  • Some signs would be:

    • You want focused, individualized support as you navigate a new season of work (you’re leaving something or starting something new, you’re entering a new level of taking yourself and your work “seriously”).

    • It’s important to you to make meaningful progress on your business this year (you may already have a goal/intention in mind, but be unsure how to bring it about)

    • You want someone you can talk to about growing your business that’s not your partner/spouse/therapist. They’re fantastic support, but sometimes their advice can confuse you or lead you astray (or you don’t want to overload them). You suspect a relationship dedicated to supporting your business health would be useful

    • You need to figure out more authentic & effective ways of being in business (of growing/marketing your business, of leading yourself/others…)

    • You want to be less reactive, and more proactive in your business. You want to “lead your own growth”. Rather than feel like business is happening to you, you want to actively shape it!

If this sounds like you, the next step is to book a free, no-obligation consultation so that we can get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit to work together.
